We offer a full range of Shorebased Courses which you can either do as intensive weekday courses, or over two weekends. Our Radar course, Diesel Engine, GMDSS, and First Aid courses are all one days, and we try and operate these over the weekends for your convenience.

If there is a particular course which you would like to do and is not listed at a time to suit you, please call us, we may be able to accommodate the course at another time, this is particularly possible if there is more than one of you wanting to take the course - but even if it is only for you, just ask!

Day Skipper
Duration: 5 days (can be taken as an intensive course, or over weekends, see our course calendar).
Includes: basic seamanship and introduction to navigation and meteorology
Open to: preferably people with some practical experience

Cost: £385, for the 5 days to include course books. (no hidden extra costs-only getting to us!)

Course Dates

Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory

Duration 5 days (can be taken as an intensive course, or over weekends, see our course calendar).
Includes: offshore and coastal navigation, pilotage and meteorology.
Open to: people with navigation to day skipper shorebased standard.

Cost: £385, for the 5 days to include course books. (no hidden extra costs-only getting to us!)

Course Dates

Yachtmaster Ocean

Duration 5 days (can be taken as an intensive course, or over weekends, see our course calendar).
Includes: astro-navigation, ocean meteorology and passage planning.
Open to: people with navigation to coastal skipper and yachtmaster offshore shorebased standard.

Cost: £385, for the 5 days to include course books. (no hidden extra costs-only getting to us!)

Radar
Duration: 1 day
Includes: basic understanding of radar use in small boats as an aid to navigation and for collision avoidance.
Open to: all

Cost: £90, for the 1 day to include course books. (no hidden extra costs-only getting to us!)

Course Dates

GMDSS-Radio Course
Duration: 1 day
Includes: use of VHF radio and GMDSS equipment, learn how to send distress signals, successful completion of this course gives the over 16’s their licence.
Open to: all

Cost: £90, for the 1 day to include course books. (a £30 licence fee is also payable)

First Aid
Duration: 1 day
Includes: covers a range of situations, which could happen at sea, and how to cope with them/treat them until help arrives.

Includes: Principles, fuel system, cooling systems, fault finding, spares, tools, winterising

This can be taken at any time whilst on another course,  or as a stand alone test, at a cost of £25.

Sea Survival

Duration: 1 day

Includes: Wet training procedures as well theory of survival.
