Start Yachting
A two-day practical course. This is essentially an introduction to Sailing, a two-day course that covers basic boat handling, safety and rules of the road. The overall aim is to inspire the novice and build confidence while also allowing you to discover the joys of a new activity.

A great way to test the water, literally, and see if this sailing stuff is for you. If it is, then the first 2 days of this course can be counted towards your comp. crew course, making that course only 3 days.

DURATION: 2 DAYS
This can be taught on your own boat or on our school boat.

Cost: £195 on our school boat, for the 2 days to include staying on the boat, food, course books and wet weather gear.(no hidden extra costs-only getting to us!)  Option to arrive at the boat the night before the course and settle in, at no extra cost.

Competent Crew

Coastal Skipper-Practical Sail
A five-day course incorporating the practical use of pilotage and passage planning operating by day or night in known or unfamiliar waters, the skipper's role and boat handling in more demanding conditions.

Including

• In-depth Pilotage and Navigation/Chart Work
• Effects of waves and rougher conditions
• Broadening knowledge learnt at Day Skipper Level
• Night passage
• Longer passages
• Blind passages

It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a VHF operator's certificate and a First Aid certificate.

Milebuilding 5 day trips

Over winter 2009/2010 we are offering a 5 day trip on board our Dufour 385 for £300 per person, to include the instructor and staying on board the boat, wet weather gear but all moorings and food are at your expense.(You choose, the boat can anchor so potentially no chages for moorings, and food can be going to the pub, or a pot of chilli on board, to keep things as cost effective for you as possible.)

We need a minimum of 4 people to run this, so if you have some friends who are interested you can put together your own plan with a boat for yourselves at a very reasonable price. You set the agenda and decide where we go, weather/tide permitting.  this is ideal for those who have done there comp. crew or day skipper and are looking to increase their sail miles.

If it's only for you, we have others we can put you with to make up a boat.

Yachtmaster Offshore Pre-Exam Preparation, Sail.
A five-day course incorporating a night passage, aimed at improving all your boat handling skills and navigation, culminating in an exam.

Including

• In-depth Passage Planning/Navigation
• Advanced manoeuvres
• Chart plotters and radar
• Emergency situations

Candidates must hold a First Aid certificate and a VHF certificate. Dart Harbour Sea School is able to arrange these courses for you.
